Blockchain Brawlers Developer Spotlight: Yoshi Kondo & His BRAWL of a Soundtrack

Where did you grow up?

Tokushima, Japan.

How many siblings do you have?

I’m the firstborn son of a farming family.

Where do you live now? And what do you love most about it?

New York City — I love that you can walk everywhere and meet people from all over the world.

How did you get into gaming?

My best friend (a neighbor) had Nintendo, and we used to play together.

When did you get involved with WAX?

I heard about Street Fighter and bought 100 NFT packs. They were my first ever purchase of a WAX-oriented product and the rest is history.

How did you first discover you have a talent and passion for music?

My dad made me take piano lessons, and I was terrible at it. But, I didn’t give up and that helped me build a foundation for my current productions.

Then and there, I learned a life-changing lesson: Be Patient and NEVER quit.

Who are your favorite musicians/bands?

Barış Manço, Neil Young, Run DMC, Wiz Khalifa and 100gecs.

What is your inspiration for the Blockchain Brawlers soundtrack?

My inspiration is R&B, funk, soul and hip-hop. They are all a strong influence on the tracks you can enjoy in-game.

Was it your idea to create it?

JustMike asked me to send him a few tracks for a theme song after seeing a few of my one-off tracks. I ended up sending him 60 tracks in total!!

Where can the entire soundtrack be heard?

Log into Blockchain Brawlers, and when you’re in the console look up in the right-hand corner and the player is there waiting!
